Lodge Sir John Lavarack No.110
Sir John Lavarack

Lodge History

Lodge Sir John Lavarack, designated No. 842 S.C., was established on August 21st, 1896. The consecration ceremony took place at the Masonic Hall on Alice Street, Brisbane, officiated by the Grand Lodge of Scotland. From its inception, the lodge attracted influential individuals from commerce, politics, and public utilities, becoming a cornerstone of Freemasonry in Queensland.

Over the years, the lodge has welcomed members from diverse professional backgrounds, including academia, banking, law, engineering, and the military. Notably, it has counted a Prime Minister of Australia and two Governors of Queensland among its distinguished members. The lodge also played a pivotal role in the formation of the original Grand Lodge of Queensland in 1904, cementing its place in Masonic history.

Today, Lodge Sir John Lavarack continues to thrive, upholding the timeless traditions of Scottish Freemasonry. We remain committed to preserving the rich heritage passed down through generations, ensuring that the values and principles of our craft endure for years to come.
